Musical Director

Beth Watkins

Our director, Beth Watkins, is a long time Sweet Adeline and lifelong singer and student of music education. She is a Certified Director of Sweet Adelines and has attended hundreds of hours of directing and musical training events. Beth is also the founder and director of Take Note Young Women in Harmony Chorus for teen girls in the greater Houston area, having begun that chorus in 1998.
Beth was instrumental in the forming of Katy Vocal Express after seeing the need for a Sweet Adelines chorus on the west side of Houston. So, beginning in January 2016 the first meeting was held and a new chorus began.

Beth has a degree in Nursing from the University of Texas and has been a registered nurse in Katy Independent School District since 1992.  She also has a Masters Degree in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation from Abilene Christian University and is a certified Mediator.
In her spare time she leads 2 Girl Scout troops and works with the youth chorus at her church. She received her 60 year membership pin from the Girl Scouts in 2021.  The Young Women in Harmony patch program through SAI was created by Beth and her Take Note girls and presented at the National Girl Scout tri-annual convention in 2014.  It can be earned and received by any girl, not just Girl Scouts.

Introducing others to barbershop harmony and teaching them the joys of singing 4 part acappella harmony is one of Beth's joys.  We hope everyone will enjoy the fun and joy of singing,
